I have 20 years experience tutoring every level from primary school to university level. I enjoy teaching students and they start to gain confidence and a love for the language. I am a fluent native Irish speaker and have worked in Gaeltacht areas. I tailor each lesson to the individual and their needs. I have taught children and adults including those with additional needs. I engage in professional development courses regularly. I carry out an individual needs analysis on each student to ensure they reach their goals. It is important for me to show students the progress they are making. I have taught students who have not attended school due to illness and find it very rewarding when my students reach their potential. I place a strong emphasis on oral work, pronunciation and grammar, as these are usually areas needing improvement. My lessons are relaxed and I incorporate fun ways of learning the language. I have helped students attain 3-4 grades higher in the Leaving cert Irish and Junior Cert Irish. All aspects of the language learning are covered, vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, along with essential skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking).My love for the language plus my teaching experience and knowledge of state exams syllabus and marking builds confidence in my students.
